Season 2008/2009

Manager:  Howard Day                                                        Date: 10th  March 2008

 Coach: John Watton

 Coach: Jon Morrisroe

Commencing the new season we will be playing 11aside football 30 minutes an half, 60 minutes in total.

From what I can gather I’ll be allowed to play 11 players and pick from 3 named substitutes.

So in total 14 players will be involved each week (But I’ve heard that this might change).

There will be no second game played.

I will be picking the team with advice from John Watton, but the final selection will be down to me, so any complaints please come to me, not any of my coaching team.

Any disagreements at all need to be brought up with myself, I manage the team with help from the coaches, but I will be the one making any final decisions. Plus I think the coaches do enough and don’t need any more grief, that’s my job I guess.

I will arrange a time to talk to anyone with any problems about any issues they might have, but on the sidelines during a game is not the ideal time to do so. So please ask if you want to do so and I’ll arrange a suitable time.

We will be looking at the performance and efforts put in during the training session on a Monday as for who will be playing on the following Saturday.

So the team will be picked from the Monday night training session on merit.

Anyone not able to make training, PLEASE RING ME!! If a valid reason given they’ll be up for selection like everyone else, but I’ll have to go on previous performances for that player.

Next season the strongest available team will play every week

I will do my best to use substitutes to help the team and get players playing football.

Not every player will be able to last the full 60 minutes, so the roll on roll off Subs will come in handy.

The team selected will again be my selection with advice from John Watton

As from next season we need to know for definite that we’ll be getting 100% from each child to make it each week to be available for match selection (I’m not on about being poorly, we all get ill). But if you think you might have to miss several games because of other commitments, then I’ll have to look at squad numbers to cover for this. This is not easy, but I’m looking at a squad of 15 for next year. But that has to be 15 x 100% commitment from each player. (Talk to me if unsure about this)

I know a few have said 15 will not be enough, I believe that 15 x 100% squad we’ll be fine, going on what the last 2 team managers have said. Even 14 are enough!!

I have a waiting list of players wanting to join our team. 6 is the current number including 1 player playing for the age group above ours.

The last thing I want is to bring in new players and then have the problem of having to say to 3 or 4 of the players who have been with the team for 4 or 5 years that they’ll not be needed, it will not be happening!

Also can we please leave the tactics/organising of the players firstly to Howard Day and John Watton!

Secondly to Jon Morrisroe during matches!

It only confuses the players as to who they are supposed to listen to!

We all have our own ideas about how and why.

But I manage the team and with help from the coaches we will try and do the best for every child at the club

All I can say now is that I hope we have a great season playing some great football…

This season could be good, bad, great, ugly, who knows this is a big change for them all, but let’s get behind them however it turns out.

Please let’s support the team.

Plenty of encouragement.

Let the officials do their job.
