Ex Managers Comments Castleford Town official website After 3 years as manager of the team in which I've had some highs and some lows (some very lows if being being honest) Thanks to those that have sent me a message via email or via text To those that haven't well that's your choice and I accept it I have always tried my best and have always asked for those not happy to speak out. To my knowledge only 2 ever did and I did respect those 2 for doing so To those that have moaned behind the scenes for a lot of years Why didn't you speak to me to try and resolve your issues? As manager you have to try and do your best picking the team When I've selected my team and we've lost I've asked my coaches would they have selected a different team and I'd say on 95% of the times would have done exactly the same as me. Some times it's a no win situation. This season we've had some highs and lows but I guess you've got to accept that and as a manager and I did that At the start of the season myself, Jon Morrisroe and John Watton decided on some ground rules for team selection and I've stuck to them throughout this season. I'm not going to reveal what they were because they were decided in private and that is where they should stay. The one thing I will say is that I always stick to my word I heard quite a few comments about my son Luke which was the deciding factor in me leaving the club Luckily he didn't hear them Yes I agree he's made a few mistakes recently in goals But lots of players make mistakes but his are highlighted because they cost us a goal All I can say is that Luke was at the club from just about when it was formed and he has given his all every time he has played for the team He's won several awards while at the club and deserved them all It's a shame he has had to leave But as his father I'll not let him get hurt I think it was only going to be a matter of time before it would've happened When I think back now I wish I'd never got involved helping Nigel out Because then I would never have become manager I would've been able to have stood on the sidelines watching So on that note I leave the club with my head held up high I'll still be involved in football coaching at my local school It's a lot less stressful Good Luck to You All!! All the best for seasons to come I hope the team goes from strength to strength and I wish the new management team all the luck in the world Thanks for letting me coach your child for the last 3 years I have had some great times doing so Howard p.s. Please don't take this the wrong way at all. I'm not having a dig at anyone Please contact Jon Morrisroe with any questions
