Summer Match Results and Stats

Sat 10th May    Elvington    Away      Won     3-1

Town were away this weekend playing an 11aside friendly at Elvington in preparation for next seasons.
On a very hot day the temperature made it difficult at times but both teams played some great football.
Luke Day in goals made a few early saves with a back four of Reece Carr, man of the match Joel Hobson, Thomas Whitton and George Mitchell. In midfield it was Reuben Kirsch, Conor Hutchinson, James Cheung and Nathan Morrisroe. With a front two of Louis Watton and Connor Hughes. It was end to end football Town had a few chances to score but Elvington keeper was in top form. Subs Ross Williams for Watton and Michael Crossley for Kirsch came on after 15mins. Connor Hughes put Town in front with a sweet shot into the roof of the net, he made it 2-0 just before the break.
In the 2nd half Watton came on for Hughes and Kirsch for Hutchinson. It was Elvington that came closest when they got a penalty after a fowl by Hobson. But the strike was over the bar. Both sides looked good going forward. Then subs Hughes on for Cheung and Hutchinson for Crossley. Then Town went to sleep at a corner and Elvington pulled a goal back to make it 2-1 and they pushed on for an equaliser. But Town were not finished and after a spell of great football Town had about 10 shots from inside the area it was quite funny to be honest has Elvington just couldn’t clear their lines but town couldn’t hit the net. But Town continued to press on and Kirsch finished off a nice move to make it 3-1 at the final whistle.
A big thank you to Elvington for their hospitality and looking forward to the rematch at Castleford in June.
