Goals from Nathan Morrisroe and Connor Hughes earned Castleford Town’s under-10’s a 2-0 opening day victory over Barlby. James Cheung was man of the match for a superb game in midfield, wing-backs Reece Carr and George Mitchell were outstanding.

Town led the second game 3-0 thanks to goals from Cheung, Louis Watton and Hughes, but were indebted to a superb display from keeper Luke Day as Barlby hit back. Gamester Day made a string of quality stops to keep the visitors at bay.

Castleford Town made it two wins from two with a 3-1 success at Ulleskelf under-10’s.

Luke Day made three great saves to deny the home side breakaway goals while Connor Hughes, Louis Watton and Reuben Kirsch all went close.

Town got lucky when a defender deflected a cross past his own keeper. Ulleskelf pulled one back but a late double from Hughes put Cas clear.

Second half substitute James Cheung was star of the show.

The second game followed a similar trend with Cas being pegged back before taking charge.

Thomas Whitton’s fine opener was wiped out early in the 2nd half but with Joel Hobson, Michael Crossley, Thomas Whitton and George Mitchell solid, Cas hit form as man of the match Hughes, Watton and Cheung got goals.

Keeper Day was star of a penalty shootout, conceding only once from 13 attempts. Town netted three times to win 3-1.

Castleford Town under-10’s came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Garforth Villa.

Man of the match Ashley Lewis halved the arrears and James Cheung struck to rescue a point. Keeper Luke Day had another fine game and Joel Hobson, Conor Hutchinson and Michael Crossley did well under pressure.

Man of the match Connor Hughes (two) and Nathan Morrisroe got the goals as Cas won the 2nd game 3-0.

Reuben Kirsch’s efforts deserved a goal and Reece Carr, George Mitchell, half-time substitute Michael Crossley and Tom Whitton did well at the back.

Watton’s strike is just enough

LOUIS Watton got the only goal of the game as Castleford Town under-10’s beat Real Cliffe to reclaim second place on goal difference.

Striker Watton struck just before the break in a game dominated by defences.

Keeper Luke Day made some crucial saves and man of the match Reece Carr in fine form, Cliffe were out of luck.

Wing-backs George Mitchell and Conor Hutchinson played well and Ashley Lewis provided some fine balls for the front two of Watton and Ross Williams.

Cas lost the second game 1-0 despite dominating for long spells. Day was rarely troubled as Joel Hobson, Michael Crossley and man of the match Nathan Morrisroe rose to the challenge.

Town should have taken the lead when great work from Williams set up Connor Hughes at the far post but he missed his kick and the home side had the final say

Penalty misery for luckless Cas

Castleford Town suffered penalty shootout heartbreak in a cup tie with Altofts under-10’s.

Town’s first two spot-kicks were saved and a third scraped the post to exit the competition. In an end-to-end tie, Luke Day saved a first half penalty to keep it goal-less before Altofts surged 2-0 ahead.

But Cas got back on terms when man of the match Ashley Lewis was tripped in the box and Joel Hobson slotted home. And with the last kick of the game James Cheung rifled home a leveller but there were no goals in extra time and Altofts held their nerve in the shootout.

Town with man of the match Joel Hobson outstanding in the holding role, won the second game 3-0. A shot from Cheung was going wide until a defender deflected it into his own net to make it 1-0 at the break and a second-half double from Louis Watton completed victory.

Castleford Town lost 1-0 against Market Weighton under-10’s, despite outstanding displays from wing-backs Conor Hutchinson and man of the match George Mitchell. James Cheung played some lovely stuff and Nathan Morrisroe was excellent. Lone striker Louis Watton was unlucky not to score and second –half substitute Edward Morrison also went close.

Town underlined the value of having a good squad as they won the second game 6-0.

Goals from Connor Hughes, man of the match Reuben Kirsch and Ross Williams made it 3-0 at the break. Williams hit a second after good work from Morrisroe and Ross and Kirsch also completed a double before substitute Watton bagged his side sixth.

Town out of luck

Castleford Town, back in action after a two-week break, deserved at least a point from a 3-2 defeat Snaith under-10’s.

They wiped out Snaith’s opener when Connor Hughes flicked home a Louis Watton shot.

Town with George Mitchell and Reuben Kirsch tireless, went close before an own goal from Thomas Whitton saw them fall behind. Substitute Ashley Lewis twice fired just wide before man of the match Hughes broke free to hit a deserved equaliser.

But Town were caught cold from the restart and late pressure went unrewarded. That was tough on Luke Day who had a fine game in goal, the solid Joel Hobson substitute James Cheung.

Cas led the second game 6-0 when the teams agreed to call a halt in deteriorating conditions. Game-star Ross Williams hit a hat-trick and Nathan Morrisroe, Lewis and Cheung were also on target. Maisie Thornton and Michael Crossley had fine games at the back, Reece Carr was unlucky with a shot that went just wide and Edward Morrison made some fine saves.

Hughes grabs treble

Castleford Town came from behind to beat Thorpe United under-10’s 3-1.

Man of the match Connor Hughes hauled his side level before the break, then struck twice on the restart to complete a man of the match hat-trick.

Reece Carr, Ashley Lewis and George Mitchell were outstanding at the back. James Cheung worked tirelessly in midfield and Louis Watton played some neat stuff alongside game-star Hughes.

Town trailed 2-0 at the interval in the second game but responded superbly to win 4-2.

Striker and man of the match Ross Williams sparked the fight back. An Own-goal levelled matters before goals from Thomas Whitton and Reuben Kirsch secured the spoils. Maisie Thornton kept a clean-sheet in the second half.

Defence in great shape

DEFENCE was the key to Castleford Town’s 1-0 win at Barbly Raiders under 10s.

Keeper Luke Day, Joel Hobson and wing-backs Conor Hutchinson and the man of the match Nathan Morrisroe performed superbly in an end-to-end game.

The breakthrough came after the introduction of Louis Watton and James Cheung. Watton and Morrisroe combined to feed striker Connor Hughes, who made no mistake.

Stopper Day made a fine stop to deny Barlby a point.

The second game ended 1-1. Town man of the match and keeper Edward Morrison made 2 superb saves in a goal-less first half in which Reece Carr, Michael Crossley and Tom Whitton were solid at the back and Maisie Thornton, James Cheung and George Mitchell played some nice stuff going forward.

Watton tapped Cas ahead after linking with strike partner Ashley Lewis but Barlby levelled after an unfortunate slip from Morrison.

Castleford Town under 10’s twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw at Thorpe.

Trailing only 1-0 at the break, thanks to the graft of Luke Day and his defenders Reece Carr, George Mitchell and Nathan Morrisroe, second half goals from man of the match James Cheung and Connor Hughes earned Town a deserved draw.

Thorpe scored with the last kick of the game to snatch a 2-2 draw in the second game.    Louis Watton kept his cool to give Town  a 1-0 and Reuben Kirsch made it 2-1 after great play from Day and Morrisroe, only for Thorpe to strike at the death.

The last match report in the Ponte & Cas stated that we played Barlby and not Thorpe... My Mistake... Sorry...

Also there was some errors about which players scored etc. These are not my mistakes but the papers errors...

Castleford Town Under-10’s went down 3-0 against Garforth Villa.

With Nathan Morrisroe, James Cheung and George Mitchell playing some neat stuff and Louis Watton doing well up front, Cas looked in great shape.

But Villa took the lead just before the break and hit two on the break in the second half as Town chased the game. Substitute Thomas Whitton went closest to a reply.

Garforth won the second game 3-2 with the last kick of the game, which was tough on defensive duo Luke Day and Maisie Thornton.

After falling behind Conor Hutchinson twice went close before Ross Williams levelled it up. Connor Hughes set up Williams for his second equaliser and it looked good for a draw until Villa struck at the death.

Cas Town under-10’s were sunk 3-0 after an end-to-end clash with Goole. Keeper Edward Morrison made some great stops to keep it goalless at the break as man of the match Joel Hobson and George Mitchell kept it tight.

But Goole made use of the strong wind to net three times in the second half and not even the introduction of striker of Ross Williams could help break Town’s duck.

An exciting second game followed a similar trend, with Goole netting twice in the second half to win 2-0.

Town, who played some lovely stuff and showed some great spirit, were well served by Joe Sayer and Reece Carr who shared the man of the match award. Luke Day and Maisie Thornton also did well.

Market stalled by James' winner

James Cheung hit the winner as Cas Town under-10's saw off second-place Market Weighton 2-1.

Man of the match Cheung, Conor Hutchinson and Nathan Morrisroe played some lovely stuff, who took the lead when Morrisroe netted at the second attempt.

But Weighton hit back and Cas were indebted to keeper Luke Day for a series of fine saves before Cheung netted late on.

Market Weighton hit three second half goals to win the second game 4-1.

They took the lead with a deflected goal off luckless defender Maisie Thornton, only to be pegged back when Louis Watton set up Connor Hughes to level. But Cas leaked three goals on the restart, which was tough on man of the match Joe Sayer.

The report this week was sent as usual... But was somehow missed, Ian has been on holiday

This is the report I sent in which will now be shown in next weeks Ponte and Cas paper:

Castleford Town were away to Monk Fryston this Saturday

What a great game of football, Monk Fryston pushed on in the first half with the wind behind them but Joel Hobson and George Mitchell held it tight in front of Luke Day in goals. Nathan Morrisroe and Reuben Kirsch were outstanding in midfield. With Louis Watton and man of the match Ross Williams up front. After some great build up play from Nathan in midfield who passed to Watton who then played it into Ross who calmly flicked the ball past the oncoming keeper to put Town deservedly in front. Luke Day made a couple of great saves to keep Fryston at bay, one he pushed wide for a corner. But from that corner Towns defence froze to let Fryston back into the game.
In the 2nd half James Cheung came on for Kirsch. Town pushed on with the wind behind them and Louis Watton fired straight at the keeper after a great run. Keeper Luke Day became play maker with his goal kicks reaching from 1 area to the other. Towns best move of the game came when they played some nice one touch football through midfield into attack which ended with Louis Watton’s shot hitting the cross bar. But in the end both teams had chances and couldn’t hit the net.

In the 2nd game Town had to shuffle the team a bit.
Injured Connor Hughes going in goals with Reece Carr and Maisie Thornton at the back. Michael Crossley James Cheung and Conor Hutchinson in midfield with Luke Day and Thomas Whitton up front.
Town took time to settle and Monk Fryston caught them cold to score early on. Then Reece conceded a penalty, which they scored to make it 2-0 at the break.
In the 2nd half Kirsch came on for Cheung and after some nice link up play striker Luke Day who held the ball well and then played it off for Kirsch who finished sweetly to bring Town back into the game.
Mans of the matches both strikers Day and Whitton had chances to score but had shots saved by Frystons keeper. It was one way traffic and Town just couldn’t equalise, Reece Carr kept Town in the game after a timely tackle. But Fryston broke away and made it 3-1 at the final whistle.

man of the match Conor Hutchinson shot but the keeper saved well. 2 mins later Town got another corner which was cleared the same
and he made no mistake with his shot to put Town in front again. Town were caught cold and Cliffe finished the game winning 5-2.
2nd Half substitutes Louis Watton for Williams and Thomas Whitton for Morrisroe.
Luke Day was back in top form and will feel unlucky to have conceded 5.

Louis Watton and Connor Hughes. In the middle Reuben Kirsch and Jimmy Cheung played some nice football.

Cheung after 10mins to add some needed pace and was on hand to shoot home to give Town a deserved lead.
Joel Hobson and Reece Carr were on form and managed most things comfortably at the back.
Luke Day made it look easy in goals and wasn’t troubled apart from a shot from just inside the half that hit the crossbar.

In the 2nd half Town continued as in the first half mainly one way traffic. Conor Hutchinson came on for
Kirsch and Cheung back on for Morrisroe. Ross Williams also came on up front to replace Hughes.
Town got a corner which Man of the Match Louis Watton went to take and he whipped in a great in swinging corner beating the
keeper and the ball was deflected in off a defender on the line, the goal was given to Watton.

In the 2nd game Luke Day stayed in goals with a back two of Edward Morrison and Thomas Whitton In the middle Michael Crossley,
Connor Hutchinson and Connor Hughes. Up front Ross Williams and Nathan Morrisroe.

Morrisroe continued his scoring from the first game to score two before half time.
Man of the match Ross Williams had several chances to get on the score sheet but he was unlucky,
but he played some great passes to set up others. Hughes scored with a well taken shot to make it 3-0.
Reuben Kirsch came on for Hutchinson and he finished well to make it 4. Nathan Morrisroe scored the 5th to bag a great hat-trick.
